Dracula triumphs at the Russian Box Office

Mauris Film has released Luc Besson's new film Dracula in Russian cinemas. The movie is based on Bram Stoker's classic novel of the same name.

Unlike the many previous adaptations of Bram Stoker’s iconic novel, Luc Besson’s take shifts the story’s tone entirely, moving away from traditional Gothic horror toward a tragic love story with a distinctly romantic sensibility. Despite mixed reviews and a divided critical response—with some critics pointing to borrowed ideas and an overly stylized approach—one thing is clear: audiences in Russia have warmly embraced this latest interpretation of Dracula. Russia has become one of the film’s strongest international markets, with the movie earning an impressive 936 million rubles at the Russian box office.
